I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic to illustrate how ignorant his grandmother's comment was.

Personally, I think it's a terrible thing, but if you go into hostile territory, stuff like this is going to happen. How many people do you think the US has tortured and killed behind closed doors?

One thing to keep in mind: the pics of the prison abuse are only what they (our gov't) wants us to see. One of the guys that works for me just returned from Iraq Sunday night. He worked for the new general in charge of all the prisons. And he said the photos we've all seen are nothing compared to what is really going on.

However, none of this justifies murdering an innocent civilian who was there just to help.

not everyone in iraq is "playing terrorist", though. a lot of people are just trying to survive, and have absolutely nothing to do with what's going on. bombing the whole place back into a desert would solve nothing, and isn't fair to those who are innocent. america and every other part of the world has its own share of monsters, who kill innocent people just because they can. it's not something exclusive to terrorists.

I am not defending the terrorists in any way, shape or form. but people saying that every muslim/arab/person from that part of the world is a terrorist or that their country needs to be turned into a parking lot/desert/ruin rubs me the wrong way. my great grandfather was a muslim holy man. and it hits very close to home for me when people paint the middle east, the muslim religion, and people with the same broad brush. it's no more fair than claiming everyone from oklahoma is a psycho because timothy mcveigh was from there, or that all sports stars are wife beating, drug abusing, murdering rapists because of the actions of a few.

and that last paragraph isn't directed at you..I simply went off on a tangent. I hate this war, I hate what it's done to our country, and I want it to be over and done with as much as the next person.

Yep, Peter hit the nail on the head. People make such ignorant comments all the time. It's possible that this is limited to little hick communities such as the one I reside in (doubtful), but terms/phrases such as "rag heads" and "kill those dirty middle easterners" are thrown around as casually as "hello" and "goodbye". It's ridiculous. It wasn't my intention to offend anyone; I just wanted to demonstrate the ignorance of people I see on a daily basis. When I say things like that to my grandmother, I think she takes the sarcastic suggestions into consideration. Stupid white people.

CBMatt, I fully get the intense disgust and sarcasm in your post. Props to you for putting it so well, that people had read it twice.

Read this for what it's worth to futher boost your point. There was a documentary on MTV a while back about the rebuilding of Iraq. It showed a side of Iraq that NO OTHER news program ever showed. It showed teens just like American teens, who want freedom and westernization. There are music stores in Iraq that promote 50 Cent and Jewel and Snoop Dogg in their window. Internet cafes are popping up left and right now that censorchip was removed.

I was blown away to see people just like us (Like the South Park episode) over there who want the same things we do...BUT what do we see on the 6:00 news? Screaming rag-heads beating statues with their shoe...Way to manipulate the people of the US. Our media is as manipulative and deceptive as any 3rd world dictator ruled country.

Of course this mind-opening documentary was only shown once. Why? because it was honest and defied the mainstream media message.

It was mind blowing to see people over there exactly like us....you would have had to have seen the special to fully understand what I'm talking about.

I'm against terrorism..(DUH), but to lump an entire country is equal to the Japanese internment camps of WW2...

It's all so fucked up...we need a meteor to cleanse the filth known as humanity so the earth can go back to it's peaceful self.
